Pair of local nonprofits form working partnership focusing on recovery, sustainability

Local non-profit organizations Blue Jacket and The Lighthouse are excited to announce a working partnership.  Blue Jacket will serve underemployed and unemployed residents of The Lighthouse.

"The Lighthouse and Blue Jacket share a commitment for training and rehabilitation in our community and as a result this partnership will assist both agencies in bettering the lives of those we serve.  More importantly, the community wins when we work together and I look forward to seeing lives changed in our community as a result of our working together," said Brandon Bower, Founder of The Lighthouse.

“Gainful employment is achieved when obstacles are placed directly in front of the candidate and embraced by agencies that truly care so that eventually an employer will see the person as a commodity and not a risk,” said Tony Hudson, Executive Director of Blue Jacket.  “This process thrives with open communication when conversations are honest and real.  I am grateful for Mr. Bower’s partnership.”

The Lighthouse is a Fort Wayne-based nonprofit with the mission to serve men who struggle with addiction by providing structure, education, support, and mentorship. They also strive to be a bridge in the healing process between these men and their families.

Blue Jacket, a Fort Wayne-based nonprofit launched in 2005, has a mission to provide training and opportunity to any person with a barrier striving to earn gainful employment. Blue Jacket provides an intensive soft skill training, transitional employment, and job placement with an average 80% job start rate and 87% retention rate one year later.
