Donations, fundraising events and grants help fund the Career Academy in its entirety. Your gift to Blue Jacket, Inc. will change not only an individual’s life but also the lives of those around them. We charge students $10 to go through our 2-week program. For that cost they are funded through our Academy, given professional dress clothing including suits, dress shirts, dress pants, shoes, belts, dresses, skirts and more through our clothing company to get them ready for that job interview that will await them upon graduation. So, we rely on additional funding to help to supplement that cost, and that’s where donations come in.

Thank you for your support!

Why Support Blue Jacket?

Watch the video below to hear the story of 2009 graduate Wes McGhee and how the Career Academy impacted his life:

Mock interviews

Mock interviews enable Career Academy students to participate in simulated interviews. Standard interview questions may be used, or volunteers are welcome to create their own. We ask volunteers to commit three hours for mock interviews.

Employer round tables

Employers are invited to participate in a panel discussion with Career Academy students. This Q-&-A session allows students to ask hiring managers what employers are looking for in a candidate. We ask volunteers to commit two hours for the sessions.

Creating resumes

Many Career Academy students do not have experience creating a resume. Volunteers are needed as a resource during this process. Resumes are created every other Thursday morning in the Career Academy.

Facility support

Volunteers to help maintain the building and property are appreciated when needed. We have opportunities in our garden area. Our fenced-in 1.8 acre garden is transitioning from a vegetable to a flower garden.

If you are interested in providing your time or talent, please contact our volunteer coordinator Lindsey Lortie, at or call 260-744-1900.

Before the Career Academy, I thought I knew everything about the interview process, resumes and applications. However, after numerous attempts and failures of obtaining a job, I realized I knew nothing about how to present myself to an employer regarding my criminal offense. Blue Jacket encouraged me to face my offense and I learned how to present that in an honest and effective way. Blue Jacket helped me with my confidence and how to truly take responsibility.
